Executive Director Job Description

Crisis Intervention Services of Park County Wyoming is looking to hire a new Executive Director, after the retirement of the current ED in June of 2025. 

The Executive Director position is a dynamic and challenging position that allows one to extend assistance and emergency help to victims of abuse. This position requires a person who can stay objective in the face of difficult situations, while maintaining compassion for those we serve. It also requires a person who is able to work with many different individuals from many government agencies, law enforcement agencies, and individuals from a variety of backgrounds. Though challenging, this position allows one to make a true difference in the lives of the people they serve. 

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, related field or equivalent in education and experience as an administrator of a non-profit organization or government agency.

40 hours CIS Advocate Training (May be obtained prior to or within the first 3 months of hire). Successfully pass a background check if required. 

Primary Duties: Responsible for the day-to-day management of Crisis Intervention Services, management of staff and volunteers, fundraising, and obtaining of grants.

Basic Function: The executive director is the administrative agent of CIS.  S/he is responsible to the board of directors for the implementation of policies and programs approved by the board.  The executive director is in partnership with the board of directors in developing a vision of CIS and the mission, goals and objectives to carry out that vision.

Knowledge and Skill Areas: Knowledge of domestic violence and sexual assault issues.  Knowledge of governmental and non-governmental systems of funding.  Knowledge of civil and criminal justice system relevant to domestic violence and sexual assault.  Knowledge of non-profit administrative and fiscal concepts.

Skills in evaluation and oversight of programs, projects and personnel.  Budget development and review.  Grant writing and development of program funding.  Exceptional oral and written communication skills.  Ability to work independently and with groups including local and state organizations and agencies.  Leadership.

Additional Position Responsibilities: Direct, supervise, and coordinate all CIS programs and services including crisis intervention and referral, shelter, advocacy, budget, education and public relations.

Institute and maintain effective management controls and provide directions, coordination, and supervision indicated by the goals and policies of CIS.

Select, employ and supervise such personnel as required and authorized by the board of directors to fulfill the purpose of the organization.  Conduct timely evaluations of personnel and implement policies for documentation of personnel problems.  Coordinate staff duties and make staff assignments.

Adhere to the WY Attorney General’s Office, Division of Victim Services; Standards of Operation of Community Family Violence and Sexual Assault Programs in the operation and management of CIS.

Assure that necessary records required by the State of Wyoming for both client services and fiscal management are maintained.

Complete and submit all required forms and records to the State of Wyoming as well as other funding sources.

Oversee the development and functioning of volunteer Corp to supplement and assist CIS personnel staff.

Attend all regular meetings of the CIS board of directors and coordinate goals and objectives planning between the staff and board of directors and volunteers.

Coordinate and develop a budget proposal for each fiscal year in conjunction with the board of directors.

Research funding avenues and write grants to supplement the operating budget for CIS.

Coordinate fundraising strategy with the board of directors.

Oversee accounting functions of CIS.

Provide on-call back-up assistance as required.

Provide advocacy to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. 

Network with community and government agencies to provide a coordinated community response to victims of DVSA and child abuse.  This includes but is not limited to membership and/or participation in:  

  1. WCADVSA
  2. Park County Sexual Assault Response Team (SART)
  3. Park County Child Protection Team
  4. Park County Adult Protection Team
  5. Healthy Park County
  6. Park County Drug Court
  7. Soroptimist International
  8. Rotary International

Assure that the facilities which house CIS are well maintained, clean and inviting to victims of DVSA and to the public where appropriate.

Ensure that clients are treated in a fair and non-judgmental manner.

Participate in projects or activities as may be assigned by the board of directors.

Assume other duties as may be assigned by the board of directors.

Job Hours and Location: 40 hours to be filled in coordination with the board of directors.  Additional on-call hours as scheduled. Offices located in Cody and Powell. Some travel around Park County and Wyoming is required. 

Job Benefits: Benefits are expected to be: 

$4,000 – $6,000 of Health Insurance Reimbursement, 

10 days (2 weeks) the first 2 years of employment, 15 days (3 weeks) at 3 years of employment and 20 days (4 weeks) after 5 years of employment.
